There are 78 cards within a traditional Tarot deck and out of those, 22 are what we call the Major Arcana .
The word Arcana or Arcane comes from the Latin Arcanum and means secrets, hidden meanings and mysteries. We call them ‘Major’ as unlike the other 4 suits (Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles), they hold a more significant influence over a tarot reading by virtue of the fact that these cards represent what will seem like ‘major’ events or influences.
They can be read from 0 – 21 and signifies a journey of sorts, starting with The Fool from my previous post. We now move on to the second card 1 – The Magician.
In the second part of our journey, be that in the physical or the spiritual, we see ourselves taking responsibility for our own actions. Here, as a ‘Magician’, we call upon the Universe to assist us in manifesting what we want, desire or ‘wish’ for ourselves at stages of our life’s passage.
The Magician tarot card is full of imagery and hidden signs and symbols which as tarot readers, we can interpret through the illustrations and key word meanings or through our intuition, as we search deeply within that illustration to find the ‘secret’ or hidden message contained therein…for you.
As a stand alone tarot card, The Magician signifies, application, willpower, inner wisdom and Arcane (hidden) knowledge and signifies the power of the Universe within us all.
The Magician is a card of intellect and mental abilities. The Magician stands for a time in which we master difficult problems and successfully face challenges with a keen consciousness and worldly wisdom. This card is representative of the force of human will that is capable of moving mountains. It suggests approaching a time where you are very much in charge of your own destiny …. entering a phase in your life where you become ‘Master of your own Fate…’.
We could all use the power of The Magician! Manifest the life you deserve and desire.
